In Memory of Mahatma Gandhi´s 150th Birth Anniversary
2019 marks the 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi who was born on 2nd October 1869. To commemorate the occasion, the Embassy of India in Iceland, along with the Ministry for the Environment and Natural Resources and Hekluskogar afforestation project are hosting a tree planting event. The green thoughts Gandhi lived by, gives us a new vision to harmonise nature.
Please join us on Wednesday 5th June 2019, which is also the World Environment Day, in honoring Mahatma Gandhi´s 150th Birth Anniversary by planting trees in his memory, at Hekluskogar (100 meters from the famous waterfall Hjálparfoss).
The Embassy will provide a bus for the volunteers, as well as refreshments. Seating is limited so please RSVP to ensure your seat. The bus will leave at 15:00 hrs from BSI Bus Terminal, Vatnsmýrarvegur 10, 101 Reykjavík and return to Reykjavik after the event. If you plan to drive, you can meet us at Hekluskogar, 100 m from the waterfall Hjálparfoss.
